Stanley Tucci Wife Felicity Blunt: Love After Loss and a Big Blended Family
If you’ve watched The Devil Wears Prada, The Hunger Games, or Searching for Italy and then gone to Google “Stanley Tucci wife,” you’re really looking for the story behind the calm, charming guy on screen. The woman at the center of that story now is Felicity Blunt – a British literary agent who stepped into his life after tragedy and helped him build a new chapter.
Who Is Felicity Blunt?
Felicity Blunt grew up in London and works as a literary agent at the well-known agency Curtis Brown. Her world is books: she represents novelists and non-fiction writers, helps shape projects, and is often involved in turning manuscripts into film and TV adaptations.
She also happens to be the older sister of actress Emily Blunt. While Emily is in front of the camera, Felicity is usually somewhere behind the scenes, reading, editing, and negotiating deals. She’s not an actress, influencer, or public figure in the usual sense, which is part of why people get curious when they see her standing next to Stanley Tucci on a red carpet.
On top of her career, Felicity is stepmum to Stanley’s three older children and mum to their two younger ones, right in the middle of a big blended family.
Before Felicity: Kate Tucci and a Huge Loss
Before he ever met Felicity properly, Stanley was married to Kathryn “Kate” Tucci (born Kathryn Spath). They married in 1995. Kate was a social worker and very active in charity work – not in the spotlight, but deeply important in his life.
Together they had three children: twins Nicolo and Isabel, and a younger daughter, Camilla. By all accounts they were a very close family.
In 2009, Kate died of breast cancer. She was just 47. Stanley has talked more than once about how devastating that loss was, and how you never really stop grieving someone you loved that much. For a while, he kept a very low profile and focused on his kids. It’s important to understand that piece, because it explains a lot about how complicated it must have felt to fall in love again.
How Stanley Tucci and Felicity Blunt Met
The first time Stanley and Felicity met was way back in 2006, at the London premiere of The Devil Wears Prada. He was there as part of the cast; Emily Blunt was his co-star; Felicity came as Emily’s sister. They were introduced that night, but that was it. Stanley was still married to Kate, and Felicity was just “Emily’s sister.”
Years later, everything was different. In 2010, Stanley flew to Italy to attend Emily Blunt and John Krasinski’s wedding. Felicity was there as maid of honor. This time, both she and Stanley were in very different places in life. They started talking more, stayed in touch, and slowly a relationship began.
Stanley has admitted he was hesitant at first. There was the fresh grief from losing Kate, of course, and also a 21-year age gap between him and Felicity. He’s said he even tried to end things because he felt self-conscious about being so much older. But he also knew she was, in his words, incredibly special, and that walking away would be a mistake. Thankfully, they worked through that fear instead of letting it win.
Engagement and Their Two Weddings
Stanley proposed to Felicity in 2011. The following year, the two quietly married in a civil ceremony in London with just a small group of family and close friends. No big press announcement, no glossy exclusive – just a simple, private wedding.
Later in 2012, they held a larger celebration in London, this time with a lot more people and quite a bit of star power in the room. Guests reportedly included Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Steve Buscemi, and Oliver Platt. Even then, it wasn’t treated as a media circus; it was a family event that happened to include some very famous faces.
Stanley has been honest about feeling guilty at first for proposing again after losing Kate. Falling in love again didn’t erase what he’d gone through, and he’s said that it took time to accept that you can carry grief and happiness side by side – that moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting.
A Blended Family of Five Kids
Today, Stanley and Felicity are raising five children together.
From his marriage to Kate, he has his three older kids: Nicolo, Isabel and Camilla. With Felicity, he has two younger children: son Matteo, born in 2015, and daughter Emilia, born in 2018.
The family is based in the U.K., and Stanley jokes often about his youngest two having very proper British accents. He’s told stories about them sounding so posh and articulate that he sometimes feels like the odd one out at the dinner table.
He’s also spoken very warmly about how much Felicity took on. Becoming a stepmother is never simple; becoming a stepmother to three children who have lost their mum is another level entirely. Stanley has called what she did “a huge thing,” and said she’s made life better for all of them.
Family life now is a mix of school runs, teenage schedules, much younger kids in the house, time in London, visits to Italy, and a lot of cooking and eating together – which is very on brand for him.
Felicity’s Role During His Cancer Battle
In 2017, Stanley was diagnosed with a tumour at the base of his tongue – a form of oral or throat cancer. He went through high-dose radiation and chemotherapy. The treatment worked, but it was brutal; it left him unable to enjoy food for a long time and caused long-term issues with his thyroid and energy levels.
He’s been very clear that he almost didn’t go through with it. He was terrified of what the treatment would do to him and seriously considered refusing it. According to him, it was Felicity (with help from Emily) who pushed him to start, even when he was “kicking and screaming” against it.
Looking back, he has said flatly that he wouldn’t be here without those treatments – and therefore without her insistence. It’s a stark but very real version of “in sickness and in health,” and he’s repeatedly called her support during that time life-saving.
Their shared love of food, which shows up in his cookbook and his series Searching for Italy, has taken on a different texture since then. Eating isn’t as effortless for him as it once was, but food is still a big part of how they connect as a couple and as a family.
The Age Gap and Growing Older Together
People also tend to latch onto the 21-year age gap between Stanley and Felicity. He’s in his mid-60s; she’s in her early-40s. Interestingly, he’s the one who brings it up with the most vulnerability.
In one interview, he said the age difference doesn’t bother him day to day, but it does make him sad sometimes. He worries about not being there to grow old with her and not being able to look after her if she ever needs it later in life. He called aging together something “really beautiful,” and admitted it hurts to know they probably won’t get that in the same way.
At the same time, he talks a lot about feeling incredibly lucky – lucky that he survived cancer, lucky that he found love again after losing Kate, and lucky that he gets to share his life now with Felicity and their children.
