Manchester City yesterday sealed a massive £22 million deal to bring in Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina. Jovetic still only 23 years old is a Montenegro international with 23 caps and 10 goals to his name.
This brings the Man City spending spree in this transfer window to £90 million with their new manager Pellegrini not shy to beat off opposition for Jovetic’s signiature with the owners cheque book. There was also serious interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.
Stevan Jovetic was born in Titograd, Montenegro and played initially for Mladost Podgorica before moving on to Partizan Belgrade and then Fiorentina where he scored 13 goals in 31 games last season. He scored 12 goals the season before whilst he missed all of the 2010-11 with a criciate ligament injury.
He can play both as an out and out striker as well as in the deeper position of no.10. This and his style of play has earned the nickname of the Montenegrin Messi from the Italian media.
